What's the "real price"?

The cost of attendance minus grants and scholarships. That's the definition federal auditors recommend. Loans are paid back and work-study is earned, so Net never subtracts them. Many letters do, which is why the "remaining balance" on a letter can be far lower than the real price.

Net didn't read my letter correctly

Tap Review the lines. Every line has a menu to change what it is, fix the amount or remove it, and Add a line covers anything missed. The icon next to each amount shows exactly where on the page Net read it. Clear PDFs from the school portal read best; for photos, lay the page flat in good light.

Why is a line under "Needs your call"?

Net couldn't tell what it is, so it won't count it as free money. Tap what it really is: free money, a loan, work-study or not aid. The real price appears once every line is sorted.

The letter doesn't show the cost of attendance

Many don't, or list only billed costs such as tuition and housing. Search "[school] cost of attendance": the financial aid website publishes the full yearly budget, including books, travel and personal costs. Enter the on-campus total and Net uses it.

How does the four-year plan work?

Costs grow by the rate you set (4% a year by default). Each grant can be the same every year, re-checked each year, or first year only, with an optional renewal condition such as a GPA. Student loans follow the federal limits for dependent undergraduates, and Parent PLUS follows the limits in force from July 1, 2026: $20,000 a year and $65,000 in total per student, for all parents combined.

Why can't Parent PLUS use an income-driven plan?

Parent PLUS loans made from July 1, 2026 can only be repaid on the Standard plan. How long depends on the parent's total federal loan balance, which is why Net asks about other federal loans.

Restoring a purchase

Settings or the unlock screen → Restore purchase, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with. The unlock is one-time and includes Family Sharing.

What Net is not

Net is an independent tool, not affiliated with any college or the U.S. Department of Education. Its numbers are estimates from the letters you add. Your school's financial aid office is the final word, and appeal letters are templates for you to adapt, not legal advice.
