Privacy Policy

Smooth collects nothing about you. There is no account, no tracking and no analytics. Your flights, forecasts and flight reports stay on your phone.

What we collect

Nothing. Smooth has no account system. The flights you add, their forecasts, the bumps your phone measures and your reports are stored on your device and are never sent to us.

Forecast downloads

To build a forecast, Smooth downloads public turbulence forecast files from our server (smoothfeed.ashvara.io). Each file covers a 10° by 10° square of the world, so the request says only which squares are needed, never your flight, your airports or anything about you. Like any web server, it sees your IP address in order to send the files; we don't collect, store or analyse it. Warnings and pilot reports are downloaded the same way, as one file for the whole world.

Location

Smooth uses your location only during in-flight mode, which you start. GPS works in airplane mode, and Smooth uses it to know where you are on your route, so the countdown to the next bumpy stretch stays right, including when the screen is locked. Location is processed on your phone and never leaves it. Smooth never uses location outside in-flight mode. Change access any time in iPhone Settings › Apps › Smooth › Location.

Motion

During in-flight mode, Smooth reads the motion sensors to measure the bumps you feel, for your flight report. The readings are summarised on your phone and stored only with that flight.

Notifications

Smooth schedules local reminders on your phone (for example, an hour before departure). They are not sent through us.

Live Activity and widgets

These show your flight's forecast on your own Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Home Screen. Nothing is sent to us.

Maps

Smooth's maps are built into the app (from the public-domain Natural Earth dataset) and drawn on your phone, so they work in airplane mode and make no network requests.

Tracking & analytics

Smooth does not track you. It contains no third-party analytics, advertising or attribution SDKs and collects no usage data or device identifiers.

Purchases

Smooth Pro (monthly, yearly or lifetime) is purchased through Apple. We never see your payment details; the app is told only whether Pro is unlocked. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings.

Deletion

Delete a flight from its menu, or everything from Settings › Delete all flights. Deleting the app removes everything Smooth stored.

Children's privacy

Smooth collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date above will change.
