Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 29, 2026

Seal is designed to be private by default. Your notarial journal and your books stay on your device and in your own private iCloud - we never see them.

Data we collect

None. Seal does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data to us or any third party. There is no Seal account, no sign-up, and no analytics or tracking.

Where your data lives

  • Your journal entries, signer details, signatures, thumbprints, fees, mileage, invoices, and clients are stored on your device and synced privately through your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database), so your record is available across your iPhone and iPad.
  • This sync uses your personal iCloud only. Seal's developer has no access to your iCloud data - it is not collected by us.
  • Seal works fully offline; changes sync automatically once you're back online.

Signer information and biometrics

  • Signer names and ID details are recorded only to build your compliant journal of record. ID numbers are stored as a one-way encrypted hash, never as plain text, and are masked or redacted on export by default.
  • Thumbprints and signatures captured for an entry are stored on your device and in your private iCloud and are redacted on exported records by default. Seal's developer never receives them.

Location

When you log an act, Seal stamps the entry with the location where the act was performed - part of a complete, defensible record. This location is stored on your device only and is never sent to us or any third party. You can decline the location permission and still use Seal.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store. Seal never sees your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Third parties

Seal contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
