Privacy Policy

Paydown collects nothing. There is no account, no server, no tracking and no analytics. Your loan file and your answers stay on your phone.

What we collect

Nothing. Paydown has no servers and no account system. The loans you import or enter, your income, household and public-service answers, and every plan it calculates are stored in a single file inside the app on your device, encrypted by iOS whenever the phone is locked. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Your aid file

When you import MyStudentData.txt from StudentAid.gov, Paydown reads it on your phone and keeps only what it needs to model repayment: each loan's type, dates, balances, interest rate, status, and the servicer and school names. The contact details in the file — your name, address, phone number and email — are skipped and never stored. The original file stays wherever you picked it from; Paydown does not copy it.

Tracking & analytics

Paydown does not track you. It contains no third-party analytics, advertising or attribution SDKs, and collects no usage data or device identifiers. It makes no network requests of its own.

The rules it applies

The repayment formulas, poverty guidelines, tax brackets and deadlines are built into the app, each with its citation. Nothing is fetched, so no request tells anyone what you owe or earn. Updated rules arrive only when you update the app from the App Store. The rules version is printed in Settings and on every plan PDF.

What leaves the app, and only when you choose it

• Plan PDF. Sharing your plan hands the PDF to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice — we never see it.
• Reminders. Recertification and PSLF reminders are scheduled as notifications on your device. They are not sent through any server.
• Support email. If you email us, we see what you send us and nothing else.

Purchases

The Paydown unlock is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Paydown is told only whether the unlock has been bought. Please see Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles transactions.

Deletion

Settings → Delete all data erases your loans, answers and reminders from the device immediately. Deleting the app does the same. Because nothing is ever uploaded, there is no copy for anyone — including us — to retrieve or delete.

Children's privacy

Paydown is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date above will change. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
