Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
Footfall collects nothing. There is no Footfall account, no server, no tracking and no analytics. Your runs and walks stay on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud.
What we collect
Nothing. Footfall has no servers and no account system. Your activities, routes, shoes, profile and settings are stored on your device and are never transmitted to us.
iCloud backup
If you're signed in to iCloud, Footfall backs up your activities, routes, shoes and a few settings (units, body profile, step goal and learned stride) to the private iCloud database of your own Apple Account, so they come back after a reinstall and appear on your other devices. This data is stored by Apple under its iCloud terms; we can't see or access it. Turn it off for Footfall in iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud.
Location
Footfall uses your location to record the route, distance and pace of the runs and walks you start. It uses location only while you're recording (and on the start screen, to show GPS signal), including when the screen is locked during a recording. Change access any time in iPhone Settings › Apps › Footfall › Location.
Motion & Fitness
Footfall counts your steps and cadence, and reads the barometer for elevation. It uses your steps to keep measuring distance when GPS drops out, and to learn your stride length. All of this is processed and stored on your device.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Footfall saves your runs and walks (with their routes, distance and active calories) to Health, and reads your heart rate during workouts, your daily steps, and your weight, height, age, sex and resting heart rate for accurate calories and heart-rate zones. When you choose Import from Apple Health, Footfall also reads your past walking, running and hiking workouts with their routes, heart rate and steps, and rebuilds them as Footfall activities. Health data is never used for advertising, never shared with third parties and never sent to us. Change access any time in the Health app.
Heart-rate sensors
Footfall connects to Bluetooth heart-rate straps you choose, and on iOS 26 receives heart rate from supported earbuds through Apple Health. Readings are stored only with your activities on your device.
Apple Watch
Activities recorded on Apple Watch are sent directly to your own iPhone. Nothing passes through us.
Live Activity and widgets
These show your current or recent activity on your own devices (Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Home Screen). Nothing is sent to us.
Maps
Maps are drawn by Apple Maps, which Apple provides under its own privacy policy. Footfall sends nothing to us.
Sharing and export
Share images and GPX files are created on your device and sent only where you choose to share them. GPX files you import are read on your device and turned into activities; the files themselves aren't kept or sent anywhere.
Tracking & analytics
Footfall does not track you. It contains no third-party analytics, advertising or attribution SDKs and collects no usage data or device identifiers.
Purchases
Footfall Pro (monthly, yearly or lifetime) is purchased through Apple. We never see your payment details; the app is told only whether Pro is unlocked. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings.
Deletion
Delete a single activity from its card, or everything from Settings › Delete all data. With iCloud backup on, deletions also remove the data from your iCloud and your other devices. Deleting the app removes what Footfall stored on that device; to remove the iCloud copy too, use Delete all data first, or iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage. Workouts saved to Apple Health stay in Health until you delete them there.
Children's privacy
Footfall collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated date above will change.
