Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
The short version: Cull scores, groups and culls your photos entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or store any of your data. No photo ever leaves your iPhone or iPad, and no account is required.
Who we are
Cull ("the app", "we", "us") is an iOS and iPadOS app that helps photographers do the first pass on a shoot — scoring each frame for sharpness, eyes-open and exposure, grouping near-identical shots, and helping you keep or reject them. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
Data we collect
None. Cull does not collect personal data. Specifically:
- We do not upload your photos, thumbnails, scores, decisions, or any shoot data anywhere — everything stays on your device.
- We do not require an account, sign-in, or any personal information to use the app.
- We do not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
You can verify this yourself: Cull works fully in airplane mode.
Photo library access
To cull a shoot, Cull asks your permission to read the photos you choose and, if you use the "Photos album" export, to add picked photos back to your library. Photos you import are analyzed on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework and are never sent anywhere. Cull keeps small preview thumbnails on your device to make reviewing fast; you can clear these at any time from the app, and they are removed when you delete a shoot.
Your originals are never modified
Cull's decisions are written as flags — for example XMP sidecar files, or a preview album — that sit alongside your originals. Cull never alters or deletes your original photos.
Purchases
Cull is free and contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
