What does Anchor do?
Anchor helps you use your phone a little less. You pick the apps that pull at you and choose how firmly to hold them — a scheduled block, a short delayed-access pause, or a daily time budget — and Anchor uses Apple's Screen Time framework to shield them for you. Everything happens on your device.
How do I set it up?
On first launch, Anchor explains what it does and asks for Screen Time permission (Apple's own prompt — it's the only way any app can block another). Then you pick the apps to manage from Apple's system picker, and Anchor shows a short "How Anchor works" tutorial. You can reopen that any time from Settings → How Anchor works.
What's a profile?
A profile is a named set of rules for a group of apps — when they're blocked, and how firmly. Make one for each part of your day (say "Sleep" and "Deep Work") and toggle it on, or let its schedule do it for you. The free version includes one profile; a one-time purchase unlocks unlimited profiles and the Work / Sleep / Study templates.
What are the three blocking modes?
- Scheduled — the apps are blocked during set hours, like 10pm to 8am (overnight windows work too).
- Delayed access — the apps stay behind a shield; a short pause makes you think twice before opening.
- Daily budget — you get a time allowance; once it's spent, the app rests until midnight.
What is the commitment lock?
Optionally lock a profile for 24 hours, 3 days, or a week. While it's locked you can't weaken or switch it off — only make it stronger. It's a real cooldown for the moments willpower alone doesn't cut it. You always keep full control of your device in Settings.
What happens when I tap "Open anyway" on a shield?
Only the app you tapped opens — everything else in the profile stays blocked — and it re-locks on its own after a short window you can set per profile (about a minute by default). So getting in is a deliberate choice you make each time, not a free pass.
Does anything leave my phone?
Never. Anchor has no servers and no account. It's built on Apple's Screen Time framework and, thanks to Apple's design, only ever receives an anonymous token — never the names of your apps. See our Privacy Policy.
Is there a subscription?
No. Anchor is a one-time purchase. The free version is fully usable with one profile; Anchor Full unlocks unlimited profiles and templates for a single price, forever.
